The Latest

The 2014-2015 season was a record breaker, and this 2015-2016 season surpassed that.
It's now May and season is fading quickly. Doing about 30 gigs per month has now been trimmed to about 24, a much needed break.

"Sunday Funday", has completed its 10th year, with these last six at the Blue Parrot (St Pete Beach) after the four years at Woody's - this gig is an institution attended by a core of super-friendly and fun locals and snowbirds, many who have all become great friends, and, at the least, "happy to see each other every week acquaintences". Developments over Summer 2016 will dictate whether an 11th season is in the cards.
Tuesdays I will be at American Legion 273, Madeira beach, alternating week to week 2-6pm on the waterfront patio and 6-8pm inside the hall.
Wednesdays you can find me at JD's Lounge patio (Gulf Blvd, Indian Rocks Beach) from 1-5pm. This has been a super venue for me and for my northern beaches folks- and has become another Funday. Look for the $1 build a burger day to resume sometime in June.
Thursdays are at the Boardwalk (Seafood and Pasta Restaurant/Lounge) at the Isla del Sol retail plaza (at the intersection of Bayway and Tierra Verde)..... A nice gig at which I do alot of acoustic numbers.

On Fridays and Saturdays, I be rotating gigs at festivals, events and venues such as American Legion 273 (Madeira Beach), VFW 2473 (Clearwater), Dunedin Elks, American Legion 158 (Treasure Island), VFW 10094 (Largo - Indian Rocks post), and some super friendly parks and condos, including Sea Horse, Mainlands, Water's Edge, Bay Pines, Golden Gate, Lakeview of Largo South, Bermuda Bay, Town and Country, Long Bayou, and more.

ENTERTAINING PEOPLE for 28 years as of St Patrick's Day 2016
I love my job and am very thankful that so many people come every week to one or more of my gigs.

To still be peaking after 28 years of gigging is a bit extraordinary. I take my job very seriously and always strive to improve on the product I offer.
Locally, I'm a primarily guitar/vocals based beach/pop/rock/country act - with a few songs from the 50's, a bunch from the 60's-90's, and a few more current. My focus is on making people dance (or at least tap on their table if a "non-dancer"). My set is filled with lots of great danceable songs including the standard fare (Old Time Rock and Roll, Mustang Sally, Brown Eyed Girl, etc.) I also add a vocal selection of some great standards (Motown, Sweet Caroline, The Way You Look Tonight, Chicago Chicago, Ain't Love a Kick In The Head, etc) that I like to deliver in an interactive manner.

All in all, my theme is sort of "happy songs in a cheerful atmosphere" that you can dance to, sing along with, associate a certain time or your life with, and with the country I've added, have the occasional line dance. Please check out my youtube videos page to see and hear what I do.
As for volume, I keep it at an appropriate and acceptable level. as I've never know anyone to leave because its not loud enough - but we all have left venues because the music was too loud. Your customers and guests will be able to talk to one another.

I understand that the music itself is not all that matters - My act is VERY family-friendly and child-friendly- I enjoy banter with the kids, too. Many times I've heard a parent say "we brought (our child) here because they just want to hear Tom Davis". No vulgar language or dirty song parodies. TECHNOLOGY - I use very superior backing tracks that I either create from scratch (using midi or recording) or license individual instrumental tracks or stems created for live performance. I usually edit and remix to reflect what instrument I may be playing (or not) - very tasteful tracks that do not overwhelm the integrity of the live performance. I don't use karaoke tracks, which are produced in the same fashion to mimic the originals (typical recorded music like this is not the best source for a live production). They often include with fade-outs and instrument mixes that don't fit the EQ of a live sound system, and are geared more toward hi-fi systems and ipods. I also can do an acoustic gig with just me, a guitar, and harmonicas.)
I've been creating my own tracks since the 1988 introduction of the Alesis HR-16 drum machine, the Alesis MMT-8 multi track midi sequencer , and the Roland D10 keyboard / D110 module.
I take pride in performing some songs that are not often performed by most acts, such as Jay and the Americans' CARA MIA , The Left Banke's WALK AWAY RENEE, CCR's HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE RAIN, The Kingston Trio's SCOTCH AND SODA, The Turtles' SHE'D RATHER BE WITH ME, among others.

WHAT GEAR DOES TOM DAVIS USE?
"The Finest Sound Available Anywhere" is obtained not only through fine vocals, guitars, and harmonicas, but also through the use of the finest in sound reinforcement and accessories together with the knowledge/experience to put it all together. I use Martin and Takamine acoustic guitars along with some specialized hybrid guitars. For backing tracks I use Roland sounds. For sound reinforcement I use Bose and QSC.
